Inspiration

I never make New Year's Resolutions, but I read the following on a friend's blog and it truly inspired me. Here it is:

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.

I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.

I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.

I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.

I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.

I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."— Marjorie Pay Hinckley

I think this particularly touched me because of the journey as a mother I am about to embark on, but it literally stopped me in my tracks, and I knew I had to share it. I just keep reading it over and over again. I am going to put it in a frame somewhere that it can remind me of the woman and mother I want to be all the time!

I am glad it touched you. I'm working on not being so materialistic and printed this for my fridge. :)
I see you are expecting! HOW exciting. You will love being a mother.. its the hardest thing I have ever done but the most rewarding.. their smiles and snuggles make your work worth it!
