Baby Shower #1

Today was our first baby shower! Will's mom threw it for us (THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING RUTH!) It was very special because everyone drove all the way down from Northern California, we're so lucky to have so much wonderful family. Ruth and Will's sister Renee spent months preparing for it, and every last detail was thought out perfectly.
Ruth made Liam this wonderful keepsake chest. On the outside of the chest she etched in his name with a wood burning tool. To top it off she filled it with wonderful baby care items that only she would think to give us like gas drops and diaper rash cream. Also in the chest was one of those cool thermometers that you just rub across the baby's forhead and it takes their temperature. So cool!

Ruth also made this special towel for us. It hangs around your neck like an apron for while you bathe the baby, but then when you are finished you just pick up the baby and pull the towel up around him. She saw it on Martha Stuart, isn't it genius!
This is our cake. Ruth and her sister designed it, isn't it adorable! I found it particularly ironic that the cake decorator decided to make the mommy whale larger than the daddy whale! (I know that it's the mommy because she has eyelashes)

Everyone’s gifts were so thoughtful, We are so spoiled!

Everything came together so nicely this weekend, the wall and the grass were all done.  The carpet was installed and it looks great.  The nursery is almost done, we just need to put up some of the window treatments and wall hangings.  Who was worried?  Certainly not me!  I'll post pictures of the house soon, promise!
